Description
In North Tyneside Short Breaks Services are offered to children and young people 0-18 years who may be a looked after child (S31 and S20), on a child protection plan or a child in needs or may be open to our Whole Life Disability team. They may also have additional and complex needs including complex health needs who live within the borough.
The Local Authority has responsibility for securing short breaks for parents and carers of children and young people with a disability. Short Breaks are an important intervention to support families to continue to care for their disabled child and prevent family breakdown, thereby preventing children and young people becoming children in our care.
This framework will also cover children who may be vulnerable but may not have a disability.
