The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are seeking to provide orthodontics services for their patient population in 4 areas within their boundaries.
Specifically, the provider will be expected:
— to assess and treat patients up to the age of 18 who meet the criteria set out in the contract and who have an IOTN score of 3.6 to 5,
— to promote and protect health by, for example, reducing smoking and promoting oral health messages (i.e. brushing teeth). Where applicable the provider should assist patients to improve their oral health in order to commence orthodontic treatment,
— to provide support to general dental practitioners on appropriate referrals to help further reduce waste in the system.
